Hi Cheryl,

I agree. Over-delivering is a great habit to get into; things like returning copy before they expect it and offering a few more options than they expected can be great. (Of course, you don’t want clients to start expecting it and taking it for granted though, since that defeats the purpose, so you have to dole it out carefully. 🙂 )

We need to work honestly with our clients because it’s ethical. But we also need to do it to preserve our reputations—no matter where you live, the creative community is a small one!

We all want to deal with honest people. I learned that for overall business success, one should under promise and over deliver. Have you ever been on the other side where a business relationship over promised and under delivered to you? How did you feel about that?
