There is no age limit when it comes to copy writing.Once you learn how to write great copy, people will hire you regardless of what your background is. However, you can’t just decide one day that “Now I’m a copywriter.” You do need experience and you do need to show that you know how to write copy through building a portfolio–all of which we teach you!

Ive just stubled upon this website and am pretty intrigued. I was an executive secretary for most of my working life and nothing gave me more pleasure than writing a clear concisive letter on behalf of my boss, be it for business purposes or connecting with staff on various topics pertaining to the company, I also edited the company magazine on a quartely basis.

I’m now retired and bored! Do companies out there employ us, or do they prefer to hire the younger generation?

Hi Mitch,

Well, “knowing people” is always going to help—contacts can recommend you when positions or work comes up. But you can make contacts simply by attending industry events and outings (not to mention, just by working in the industry!). No matter how many people you know, though, it’s going to be the quality of your work that gets you jobs. Good copywriters go far, less-than-good copywriters don’t.

Have a B.A. in English (Cue Avenue Q music) and an A. A. in Marketing. When I graduated in early 90’s, it was who you knew and not what you knew. Is it still the same?
